ESG & COMMUNITY RELATIONS LIAISON

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sustainability, Environmental Management, Social Sciences, Community Development, Corporate Communications, Public Relations or a related field.
  • Minimum 2–4 years of relevant experience in ESG, sustainability, CSR, community relations, stakeholder engagement or a related role.
  • Experience in the mining, oil & gas-based industries would be an added advantage.
  • Experience working with NGOs would be an added advantage.
  • Good understanding of ESG principles, particularly the social and community engagement aspects of sustainability.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to engage effectively with individuals from diverse social and cultural backgrounds.
  • Strong coordination, documentation and report-writing skills.
  • Proactive, resourceful and able to work independently as well as collaboratively across departments.
  • Willingness to travel and participate in community activities outside normal working hours when required.
  • Proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia and English. Knowledge of local languages or dialects would be an added advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the organisation, mining operators and local communities on community and ESG-related matters.
  • Build and maintain good working relationships with community leaders, village representatives, local authorities, NGOs and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Engage regularly with local communities to understand and address their concerns, needs, feedback and expectations in relation to mining activities in the area.
  • Facilitate communication between the mining operator and local communities to promote mutual understanding, address community concerns and encourage positive participation in mining-related activities.
  • Plan, coordinate and monitor community engagement activities and programmes to support positive relationships between the mining operator and local communities and facilitate the smooth implementation of mining activities in the area.
  • Coordinate community feedback, enquiries and grievances, ensuring appropriate follow-up and timely resolution.
  • Identify and monitor potential community issues, concerns or stakeholder conflicts that may affect mining activities, and promptly escalate significant matters to management.
  • Engage and maintain good working relationships with NGOs, community organisations and other relevant stakeholders, and monitor issues that may affect community relations and mining activities.
  • Represent the organisation at community meetings, engagement sessions and relevant external events when required.
  • Maintain proper documentation, records and data relating to community engagement, stakeholder feedback, grievances and community programmes.
  • Prepare ESG, sustainability and community impact reports for management on community engagement activities, key concerns, stakeholder issues and follow-up actions.
  • Represent the organisation at community meetings, engagement sessions and relevant external events when required.

SENIOR FINANCE EXECUTIVE

  • Professional accounting qualification such as ICAEW, ACCA, CPA, CIMA or equivalent would be an added advantage.
