Applications Overview
A Mining Lease (ML) grants the holder the exclusive right to extract and process minerals within a designated area in Sabah. A Mining Lease (ML) can only be applied for after successfully completing prospecting activities under a valid Prospecting Licence.

Applicants must be valid Prospecting License holders and have successfully completed all prospecting and exploration activities.

Jabatan Tanah dan Ukur (JTU) Processing
Application forwarded to Jabatan Tanah dan Ukur (JTU) for formal processing.
State Government Multi-Agency Review
Jabatan Tanah dan Ukur (JTU), Pejabat Hasil Bumi (PHB), Jabatan Perhutanan Sabah (JPHTN), Jabatan Perlindungan Alam Sekitar (JPAS) & Jabatan Mineral dan Geosains (JMG).
Tabling of Qualified Applications to the State Cabinet
State Cabinet to discuss and decide.
Drafting of Mining Lease Agreement
Upon approval from the State Cabinet, the process of preparing and drafting the Mining Lease Agreement will commence.
