On 4–5 August, the Sabah International Convention Centre was buzzing with conversations, ideas, and shared goals as about 80–90 participants came together for the Compliance & Reporting in ESG and Sustainability for Mining Sector in Sabah course.
The event was officiated by Datuk Sernam Singh, who set the stage with an encouraging message on the importance of sustainable practises in the mining industry. Over two days, participants explored how ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles can be integrated into everyday operations, ensuring that mining in Sabah is not only productive but also responsible.
A key highlight was learning more about the vital role of the Sabah Mineral Management in guiding and overseeing sustainable mining efforts. Beyond the presentations and discussions, the course also became a space for networking where industry players, regulators, and stakeholders could exchange ideas and strengthen partnerships.
By the end of the event, everyone walked away with new knowledge, fresh perspectives, and a shared commitment to making mining in Sabah a model for sustainability.
